Pride Day Festivities Kick Off
Winnipeg, MB - More than 5,000 people from the Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender
and Two-Spirit (GLBTT) community and their supporters, friends, and
family members will descend upon downtown Winnipeg today to celebrate Winnipeg Pride!
PRIDE RALLY
When: 12:30 pm
Where: In front of the Manitoba Legislature, 450 Broadway Avenue
What: Plans for Winnipeg 2010 will be unveiled and Paul Hesse will speak about
the 40th anniversary of the Stonewall Riots in New York City.
PRIDE PARADE
When: 1:00 pm
Where: Memorial to Portage to Main to Broadway ending at Memorial Park
What: Parade through downtown Winnipeg with more float entries than ever
before and – for the first time – floats from some of our corporate sponsors.
PRIDE FESTIVAL
When: 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm
Where: Memorial Park
What: Free all-ages festival with expanded business fair, new children’s area,
and performances from the likes of Kate Ried, Jeff Straker, and Süss Trio.
FUSION: THE GARDEN OF EDEN
When: doors open 8 pm
Where: Blush Ultraclub, 210-323 Portage Avenue
What: Winnipeg’s hottest dance party ($25 advance; $40 at the door) with DJ
Wizzard, DJ Ryan G, DJ Hott Boxx, and a performance by Breyanna Burlesque.
Spokespeople will be available for interviews throughout the day.
